With a focus on cell biology, I studied the formation of the centrosome of Drosophila during my MSc project. I began my PhD in the Freeman group in 2015, where I study iRhoms, the proteolytically inactive members of the rhomboid-like superfamily. More specifically, my project concerns the role of mammalian iRhoms in the endoplasmic reticulum, where they drive EGFR ligands into a degradation mechanism called ERAD. However, how iRhoms perform this function remains to be understood. My PhD project therefore focuses on the identification of molecular members required for iRhom-driven ERAD of EGFR ligands.
